What to do if a service provider requires you to pay upfrontBackgroundAlthough the majority of medical service providers (approximately 81%) submit their claims directly to the Benefit Society, there are still a limited number of service providers who insist on issuing invoices directly to members. In some instances, members are required to make an upfront payment directly to the service provider and claim a refund from the medical scheme. What to do to claimIf you are required to pay an account upfront and claim from the Society, please ensure that: - you note on the claim that you paid the account directly to the service provider;
- you attach the receipt to your claim; and
- the claim contains your name and Benefit Society membership number.
How to submit your claimsClaims can be submitted to the Society in any of the following methods: - Post: P O Box 1922, Kimberley, 8300
- Physical address: Kimberley House, 84 Du Toitspan Road, Kimberley, 8300
- Docex: Docex 12, Kimberley, 8300

Keep track by registeringAs it is ultimately your responsibility to make sure that all service providers are paid (whether by you or directly by the Society), it makes good sense to register on the Benefit Society website – simply click here to register. Once your e-mail address and other electronic contact information is registered on the Benefit Society’s system, you will receive: - Electronic statements (sent as an attachment to an e-mail)
- Claims information (weekly e-mail advising you of claims processed in the last 7 days). This allows for the early detection of incorrect or fraudulent transactions.
- Annual benefits used and available per beneficiary, membership detail, authorised cases and last member statement e-mailed to you on request. (Simply send an email to webmail@dbbs.co.za and a response will be sent to you in approximately 5 minutes with the specified information as attachments.)
